The ACLU of Kansas and Western Missouri
Since 1961, the American Civil Liberties Union of Kansas and Western Missouri has been dedicated to preserving and advancing the civil rights and legal freedoms guaranteed by the United States Constitution and the Bill of Rights.
We are an affiliate of the national American Civil Liberties Union and work with them on many important projects. Our primary focus, however, is on the issues that affect residents of the of Kansas and Western Missouri: freedom of speech, reproductive rights, LGBT rights, immigrants’ rights, religious liberty, privacy concerns, fair treatment of prisoners, and more.
The national ACLU has defended freedom for 90 years, and ACLU of Kansas and Western Missouri for 50 years. We are the largest civil liberties organization in the state with over 3,000 members, working in the courts, the legislature and our communities to protect the rights of all people living in Kansas and Western Missouri.
The ACLU of Kansas and Western Missouri Foundation is responsible for our legal, education and communication efforts. The ACLU of KSWMO union is responsible for our lobbying and legislative work.
